Freeplane is a free, open source application for creating maps (diagrams of connections between ideas) and electronic outlines.
Written in Java it is supported on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and is licensed under the GNU GPL version "2 or later". In simple words you can share your information or ideas about work, school and home.
The software can be used to map and analyze the information. It works with any operating system that has a current version of Java installed.
It can operate either locally or portably from removable storage media such as a USB drive. A feature of Freeplane is support for installed enhancements.
Add-ons are a way to extend and customize Freeplane similar to how plugins and extensions can be used to extend and customize well-known applications like Firefox or LibreOffice.
