kinovea is a video player for sports fans. Through the app you can slow down, study and comment on the technique of other athletes or yourself.
It is a video player specially created for sports professionals and their trainers. Users can upload videos and view the videos in slow motion so they can analyze their movements and get the insight they need to take their performance to the next level.
Although the general philosophy of the application is what we have described, this does not mean that you cannot use the application for any other reason.
Measure angles, distances and times manually or use semi-auto tracking to follow the trajectories of points in the video. Export your analysis to spreadsheet formats for scientific study and further processing.
Create custom tools that fit specific needs. The main window acts as an explorer for video files, favorite folders and cameras. Kinovea doesn't try to manage your video collection, it just provides browsing to your drives and shortcuts.
The video player is based on the FFMpeg libraries so it can read almost any video format you throw at it. Still images are specially processed and converted into 10-second videos to allow multiple pages of annotations on a single image.
Time in Kinovea can be represented in various units such as number of frames, total milliseconds since start, or a classic timecode format.
For videos that are already in slow motion because they were shot with a high-speed camera, the time scale can be adjusted to the shooting rate, and all times throughout the program will then reflect real-time values.
