AutoWall is probably the simplest free application that can be found on the internet, through which you will be able to add animated images to your windows desktop. Using the program is simple. Simply select the image file you want to apply and press Apply.
AutoWall also supports other video formats, however increasing CPU usage in this case. However, I tried on my computer, Gif images and video files as background without encountering any problems. (however, make sure that they are not too large in size).
