Pidgin is a chat program that allows you to connect to multiple chat networks at the same time. This means that you can chat with your XMPP friends on an IRC channel at the same time. Pidgin runs on Windows, Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems. Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber, XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell Groupwise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, Silc, Simple, Zephyr. It can also support many more by adding plugins. It even supports many other features such as file transfers, messages, friend icons, custom smiles and alerts. Finally, numerous plugins extend its functionality, above and beyond its standard features.
