Winamp is one of the first media players for Windows developed by the Nullsoft company. Since version 2 it has been sold as freemium and supports extensibility with plugins and skins, has music visualization. playlist and media library, supported by a large online community.
It was one of the first widely used music players for Windows that even supported Ogg Vorbis playback by default. Its first edition was released in 1997 and quickly became popular. The 2.x versions were widely used and made Winamp one of the most downloaded Windows applications.
After years of inactivity a new version has been released with support for Windows 11. It supports playback of many types of audio (MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV, MOD, XM, S3M, IT, MIDI, etc.) but also video (AVI, ASF , MPEG, NSV), and is an excellent choice for the user.
