Tux Paint : Free painting program for kids

Tux Paint is a free, award-winning coloring program for kids ages 3 to 12 (for example, preschoolers and elementary school kids). Tux Paint is used by school students around the world to gain digital design skills.

It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot that guides children as they use the program.

Children are provided with a blank canvas and a variety of drawing tools to aid their creativity. A large number of useful design tools are available. (See Drawing Tools, below.) The drawing canvas is a fixed size so the user doesn't have to worry about pixels or inches when creating a new painting.

The entire program 'fits' on a very small 640x480 screen and can be displayed in full screen mode to hide the underlying computer 'desktop' interface.

Loading and saving images is done using thumbnails, so no knowledge of the file system structure of the underlying operating system is required. Even the file names are redundant.
