MuPDF's rendering engine is highly optimized for speed and memory efficiency, allowing it to render even large and complex PDF files quickly. It supports various features such as transparency and advanced text rendering. The software can be integrated into other applications and used as a backend for displaying and manipulating PDF files.
In addition to viewing PDF files, MuPDF also provides command-line tools for extracting text and images from PDF documents, handling PDF annotations, and converting PDF files to other formats, such as HTML or SVG.
The renderer in MuPDF is optimized for high-quality anti-aliased graphics. It renders text with measurements and spacing accurate to fractions of a pixel for the highest fidelity in reproducing the appearance of a printed page on screen.
It supports many document formats, including PDF, XPS, OpenXPS, CBZ, EPUB, and FictionBook 2. You can annotate PDF documents and fill out forms with the mobile viewers (this feature will soon be available in the desktop viewer). Ultimately, it may seem very basic, but it does the job it’s intended for very well.
