🌟 What is IPFS?
The IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) is a different way to store and share files online. Instead of being held by a single computer, files are shared across multiple computers around the world. This way you are not dependent on one company or server.

You can think of it as a system where everyone helps to “keep” files online. When you upload a file:
- Generates a unique code – something like an identity for your file.
- Shares it on the network – the file is stored on many computers worldwide.
- You find it easily. – anyone with this code can view or download it.

No one can “shut down” or censor IPFS.
⚙️ How to install and configure IPFS
If you want to try it yourself, the steps are simple and don't require any technical knowledge.
📥 Step 1: Download and install
- Go to the page IPFS Desktop Releases
- Select the version for your operating system:
- Windows: Download the .exe
- Mac: Download the .dmg
- Linux: Download .AppImage
- Open the file and install it like any other program
⚠️ Problem? If a security warning appears, allow the app from settings.
🚀 Step 2: Open IPFS
- Launch IPFS Desktop
- Wait 1-2 minutes for it to connect to the network
- You will see a simple window with tabs: Files, Explore, Peers, Settings
⚠️ Problem? If it "hangs", check if your firewall is blocking IPFS and allow the connection.
📤 Step 3: Upload a file
- Press the button "+ Import" in the Files tab
- Select - Επιλέξτε "Filet" and choose a small file (e.g. photo <10MB)
- Wait for the green checkmark ✓ to appear.
🔗 Step 4: Share the file
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Don't use "Share Link" - it doesn't work for others!
Correct procedure:
- Right click on your file → "Copy CID" (NOT the Share Link!)
- You will copy a code like this:
QmXx...abc123 - Create the public link by adding the CID to the end of this address:
https://ipfs.io/ipfs/ΤΟ_CID_ΣΑΣ
📌 Why NOT "Share Link"?

✅ Step 5: Try it out
- Open the browser
- Paste the link you created:
https://ipfs.io/ipfs/ΤΟ_CID_ΣΑΣ - If you see your file, great! 🎉
⚠️ Not loading?
- Wait 2-3 minutes (it takes time to propagate through the network)
- Make sure IPFS Desktop is open
- Try an alternative portal:
https://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/ΤΟ_CID_ΣΑΣ - "Pin" the file (right click → Pin) to make it permanently available
