Symbols in Word: Everything you need to know
What are Symbols in Word?
The symbols in Word are special characters not found on the standard keyboard. They include mathematical symbols, currency symbols, special characters with accents, arrows, geometric shapes, and many more. These characters come from various fonts and character encodings, such as Unicode.
Basic Ways to Enter Symbols
1. Through the "Import" Menu
🎯 The simplest and most direct way!
Click on the tab "Introduction" at the top of the screen, then select "Symbol" from the "Symbols" group. A drop-down menu with the most commonly used symbols will appear.
If you don't find the symbol you want, click on "More Symbols" to open the full symbols dialog. Here you can browse thousands of different symbols, change the font, and see the ASCII or Unicode code for each symbol.
2. Keyboard Shortcuts
Word offers several keyboard shortcuts for quickly entering symbols:
Alt + 0169 for the copyright symbol (©)
Alt + 0174 for the registered trademark symbol (®)
Alt + 0153 for the trademark symbol (™)
